So this is mostly my way of working through some thoughts about Steve’s body — how by signing up for the serum, he also signed on to be this Captain America persona. Flexing his muscles to sell bonds. Giving up, in a way, Steve Rogers the poor immigrant kid from Brooklyn. The erasure of that immigrant identity in particular bugs me, for obvious reasons.
And what does it mean for people like Bucky and Peggy, who care about Steve Rogers, and not Captain America?
